It is for information that Late Ravi Kant Singh, IPS of 1987 batch who served in Assam Police in different capacities was a courageous officer who displayed extraordinary zeal and dedication towards duty. During his tenure as Superintendent of Police, Tinsukia in 1996 when the activities of outfits like ULFA were at its peak, the officer led a number of successful operations against the outfit. On 16/05/1996 at Borguri in Tinsukia district, ULFA extremists made a dastardly attack on his vehicle and the police party. The police party under his command fought valiantly but unfortunately Shri Ravi Kant Singh, IPS alongwith some more policemen fell to bullets and lost their lives.

The Assam Police very proudly remembers the contribution of Late Ravi Kant Singh, IPS towards the unity and integrity of the nation.

Assam Police conveys its gratitude to General Bipin Rawat, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC, Chief of Defence Staff and Shri Vikram K Doraiswami, IFS, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh for sparing their valuable time for their gracious presence in this special event so relevant for our region and the country and thereby honouring our fallen heroes.
